Hospital Safety & Disaster Management Workshop at SMH
Scudder Memorial Hospital hosted a full-day Hospital Safety & Disaster Management and Mass Casualty Workshop on January 30, 2025. The session provided 53 healthcare professionals with essential training on disaster response, emergency preparedness, and patient safety.
The workshop covered hazard identification and risk analysis, disaster triage, pre-hospital care for mass casualty situations, emergency codes, chemical safety, and hospital evacuation protocols. Participants also received training on blast injury care, followed by tabletop exercises and simulations focused on evacuating critical areas like the ICU, operating theater, dialysis unit, and emergency department.
A live demonstration by the Fire and Emergency Rescue Services team reinforced fire safety measures and rescue techniques. The event concluded with a practical fire response and patient evacuation drill, helping participants apply their learning in a hands-on setting. Post-training assessments showed a significant improvement, with average test scores increasing from 64% to 87%.
Thank you to all the resource persons, trainers, and participants for contributing to the success of this workshop. These sessions are crucial in strengthening hospital preparedness and ensuring the safety of patients and staff.
